My Approach
It's not easy asking for help. I understand that expressing vulnerability can be intimidating and uncomfortable. Using a trauma-informed approach, I help clients understand the impact of adverse experiences and complex trauma to help restore their sense of safety, choice, and control. I welcome diverse worldviews and promise to provide care that is humanistic, open-minded, compassionate, and strengths-based.
During our work together, I will help you identify your strengths and unlearn behaviors that may have led to self-sabotage in the past, preventing you from achieving your goals. As we experience hardships and trauma, our sense of self fractalizes, making it difficult to trust our instincts.
Rebuilding a person’s sense of self and autonomy involves developing foundational skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, self-awareness, clear and assertive communication, boundary-setting, conflict resolution, and mindfulness practices.

Utilizing my training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and specializations in Clinical Neurobiology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Play/Art therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and mindfulness techniques, I will help you create long-lasting coping skills that will help restore self-confidence and clarity.

Over time, stress, trauma, anxiety, and depression can damage our nervous system and brain structure, causing an increased inability to regulate emotions, think rationally, and plan for the future. To allow for better emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, having an in-depth understanding of our limbic system, better known as our fight or flight system, is necessary.

During our sessions, I provide psychoeducation on the biopsychological functions of the limbic system, our brain’s emotional nervous system. Comprised of four key structures (the hypothalamus, amygdala, thalamus, and hippocampus), the limbic system regulates emotions, heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, behaviors, and motivations. Understanding how this ancient brain system works is foundational to managing emotions, thoughts, drives, and impulses effectively.

Without understanding these underlying biological processes, moving out of dysregulated emotional states can feel overwhelming and sometimes, impossible. My approach integrates the latest psychoeducation and practical skills to help you reclaim control over your body and mind. Together, we’ll design a personalized treatment plan that will provide meaningful, long-term results.
